Introduction:
Hark and listen!
The mad king Carrote and the Lethargic lord Leachling have gone to war! The casus belli is indecipherable, tactical acumen nonexistent, and there is no end in sight!
Whether through base bribery, tedious threats, or fruitless fealty, YOU and the detestable dregs under your command, have been summoned to end the stalemate.
Will the Carrots break the siege, or will the Leeches usurp the throne?
And who will claim their rightful place, as the right hand of the victor?
(Only to no doubt stab them at the first opportunity)
Welcome to the Nordic Tabletop Showdown Turnip28 Tournament “The Carrot and the Leech”!
We hope to bring you a fun and casual series of games vaguely connected by the above narrative. We are first time TO’s, who love the absurdity of Turnip28, and intend to lean a fair bit on the rules used for Turnipcon. We are happy to welcome people new to the game or tournaments, just as well as seasoned veterans of the tabletop. We offer 6 tables with fully painted and lovingly crafted terrain, several glorious prizes, and a chance to have your Bastards
fail all 3 of their dangerous terrain tests on turn 1.
Regiment sheets:
To enter the tournament each player must bring a detailed regiment sheet for their selected cult. This must include the selected follower units, unit characteristics, and chosen equipment. Furthermore, in cases where cults allow you to modify units with mutations, relics or other such special rules, the sheet must clearly note which units are thus affected.
We play 3-snob games.
Naming your horrible little snobs is encouraged
Your regiment sheet must be sent to us for approval at least one week before the tournament.
Please use this regiment sheet:
Rules:
The tournament will use the v17 ruleset for anything but the cults and units (i.e. page 1-23 of the ruleset), with the addition of the house rules noted below.
A link to the v17 ruleset can be found here.
For the cults, the tournament will use the TurnipCon Compiled Cults 4a ruleset. A link to the 4a ruleset can be found here.
NB: Some cults are changed, relics banned etc. in the compiled cult document. As such you CANNOT use the cult rules in the v17 ruleset!
House rules:
– Capturing multiple objectives?: Only one objective can be captured per order. If a unit moves within 1” of two or more objectives in a single order, such as with the Whelps Dash special rule, the player must choose which objective is captured.
– Overtime: If the time for a round runs out, and no victor has been decided, the player whose turn it is to give an order, finishes their order. Thereafter, the other player may give an order to a valid unit. The game stops after this last order.
Model Requirements:
Tabletop standard: Models must be painted and based, with at least 3 colours excluding the base.
WYSIWYG is encouraged but NOT strictly required. As such a unit of fodder equipped with blackpower weapons on the model, but using close combat weapons rules wise is allowed.
Base sizes: Bases must be within the units two base size parameters, as listed for all units in turnip28.
Multibasing is allowed, but in cases where individual models cannot be removed as the unit suffers casualties this must be clearly visualised with a counter for models/wounds lost.
Equipment:
Bring dice, a tape measure and your army rules printed out or downloaded on your phone, tablet etc.
It is recommended to have the rules for your follower units and cult readily available during play, as to make any rules clarifications and the like go smooth.
A smile and a friendly attitude:
For some, this may be their first foray into Turnip28, and you may have the privilege to be their first opponent.
Help each other with the game, have a laugh about things going wrong and
always play to create the best experience from each other.
Scenarios:
There will be 6 tables available, each with a different scenario from the Taster Campaign or the Shattered Lance expansions.
The tables are set up beforehand with the appropriate terrain, and played on a 36” x 36” mat.
You will play a different scenario and opponent each round.
The appropriate rules for the scenarios will be printed and be on each table beforehand.
Scoring:
Players will gain points each round. During each round, each player must fill the provided scoring sheet.
Please note that winning games is not the only means of scoring points, as
dastardly deeds and fantastic failures might also net you some points.
We give no assurance that scoring will be fair nor balanced.
Prizes:
Prizes will be given for a variety of criteria, that rewards good gameplay and miserable mistakes.
